Irregular Être Verbs
There are five irregular verbs that use 'être' in the perfect tense. These verbs have irregular past participles. Two of these irregulars follow the same pattern as 'venir'.


Venir - to come
Venir - to come
- Je suis venu(e) - I came.
- Tu es venu(e) - you (singular) came.
- Il/elle/on est venu(e) - he/she/one came.
- Nous sommes venu(e)s - we came.
- Vous êtes venu(e)(s) - you (plural/formal) came.
- Ils/elles sont venu(e)s - they came.


Devenir - to become

- Il/elle/on est devenu(e) - he/she/one became.

'Naître' and 'Mourir'
'Naître' and 'Mourir'
'Naître' and 'mourir' have irregular past participles. They both use 'être' to form the perfect tense.
