Regular RE Verbs

The perfect tense translates as 'I did something'. To form the perfect tense with 'avoir' in French, use the present tense of 'avoir' with a past participle. For RE verbs you remove RE and add 'u'. Here is the example for 'vendre' (to sell):

Tu =as= vend=u= - you sold

Tu as vendu - you sold

  • 'Tu' means 'you' (singular).
Vous =avez= vend=u= - you sold

Vous avez vendu - you sold

  • 'Vous' means:
    • You (plural).
    • You (singular, formal).
