Abraham
Abraham believed in the One God (monotheism), and was commanded by God to travel to the promised land.

Monotheism
- Abraham lived at a time when many people worshipped lots of gods (polytheism), but Abraham believed in the One God (monotheism).
- Abraham and his wife Sarah encouraged others to join them in their monotheistic (one God) beliefs.
- Some accepted and joined Abraham on his journey, but others rejected it and made life very complicated for Abraham.

God's mission
- God commanded Abraham to travel to a “land that He would show him.” This became the promised land - The Land of Israel.
- God promised Abraham that in the new land he would have a large family, be wealthy and also would be famous. The land would belong to him and his descendants.
