Working for Reconciliation

Christians believe it is important to promote peace because the kingdom of God is understood as a kingdom of peace (Romans 14:7).

Prayer and unity

Prayer and unity

  • Christians pray for peace and reconciliation in their religious services.
  • They also work to try to unite all Christians so that a United Church can be a better witness around the world.
ARCIC

ARCIC

  • The Anglican and Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCIC) was set up in 1969 to try to promote Christian unity.
  • They also work for reconciliation between groups that have been in conflict with each other, such as in the Corrymeela community in Northern Ireland.
    • The Corrymeela community now promotes the message of dialogue rather than conflict in many places throughout the world.
