Six Articles of Faith
Faith, iman, is outlined using six articles:

1) Tawhid
- There is only one God - Allah {al- the, ilah- God}.

2) Belief in angels (Malaikah)
- Only angels can bring the word of Allah to man. The Angel Jibril (Gabriel) communicated the Qur'an to Muhammad.

3) Belief that the Qur'an is the most important text in Islam
- The word means recitation. This is because originally it was spoken and shared orally. Only later was it written down.

4) Prophethood
- Muhammad is the most important prophet. His name means Highly Praised. Muslims believe that Muhammad received God’s final revelation to mankind.

5) Belief that the Day of Judgment will come
- The good will be sent to paradise and the wicked to hell.

6) Belief in the supremacy of God’s will
- Every event is controlled by God. Belief in predestination is key.
