As the name 'emphatic pronouns' suggests, these are used to add emphasis to a sentence. They can only refer to people.

- After c'est and ce sont or on it's own.

- Ce sont eux qui ont demandé
- It is them who asked.

- Verb + hyphen + emphatic pronoun.
