Aid

Aid is when money or resources are given to a country.

Multilateral aid

Multilateral aid is given by NGOs like the United Nations or the IMF.
Official government aid is granted by one government to another government.

Bilateral aid

Tied aid is also called bilateral aid. A country receiving bilateral aid has to do something in return (sometimes this can be used to hide illegal activity).
In 2002, the UK made tied aid illegal.
In the 1990s, the UK gave Malaysia money for a hydroelectric dam and then Malaysia bought $1bn of arms and munitions from UK businesses.

Voluntary aid

Voluntary aid is usually given by NGOs or charities like UNICEF, Save the Children or Oxfam.
Short-term aid is meant to deal with emergencies. The 2005 Kashmir Earthquake led India to offer short-term aid to its neighbours, Pakistan. Long-term aid is meant to help a country's development.

Goat aid

Goat aid involves giving goats to communities.
Goats produce milk, can be killed for meat, and produce manure for crops.
However, sometimes, the goats' need for crops and water, means that goats get food instead of humans.
