Topology - Ring
Computer Science: Edexcel IGCSE, topic 5.1.24
Ring Topology
In the ring topology, each computer is connected to two other computers so that the connections form a ring.

Decentralised
- In the ring topology, there is no central server.
- Unlike the mesh topology, there are still single points at which the network can fail (any break in the main cable).

Low cost
- A ring network is fairly cheap and easy to set up, and works reasonably well for small networks.

Scalability
- If one connection is lost, it is possible that the whole network will be unable to continue communicating.
- For this reason as well as speed, the ring topology is not very scalable.
