Less and Less

More Quantifiers and Intensifiers

Quantifiers, or intensifiers, are words that can be used with adjectives or adverbs to add more meaning to what is being said. For example 'you are very big'.

Très - very

Il est très grand.
- he is very big.
Il a couru très vite.
- He ran very quickly.

De moins en moins - less and less

Il y a de moins en moins de place.
- There is less and less space.
J'en entends de moins en moins souvent parler.
- I hear less and less about this.

Tellement - so much

Il aime tellement sa copine.
- He loves his girlfriend so much..
J'ai tellement de choses à te dire.
- I have so many things to tell you.

De plus en plus - more and more

Cela devient de plus en plus difficile.
- That is becoming more and more difficult.
Le bois devient de plus en plus rare.
- Wood is becoming more and more rare.

Presque - almost, nearly

J'ai presque terminé.
- I have nearly finished.
Ma sœur a presue dix ans.
- My sister is nearly ten.
