Independent & Mutually Exclusive Events
Maths: KS3, topic 5.2.3
Independent & Mutually Exclusive Events

Independent Events
- Independent Events are events that are not affected by other events
- This means the probability of event B is not impacted by event A
- The probability of both happening is equal to the product of the two individual probabilities

Mutually Exclusive Events
- Mutually Exclusive Events are events that cannot occur at the same time
- This means if event A happens, event B cannot happen
- This means that the probability of either event A or event B happening is equal to the sum of the two individual probabilities
