Reading Venn Diagrams

Venn Diagrams

Venn Diagrams

  • Venn diagrams are used to visually show sets of data
  • They are used when there are multiple options, and people can choose from either, both, or neither
  • Each circle represents one possibility
Option A or Option B

Option A or Option B

  • When reading a Venn diagram, it will be split up into the potential options, where each circle represents one.
  • If a number is in that circle and is not in any intersecting sections, it means that it only belongs to that option
  • In this case, 5 people only do A, and 6 people only do B
Intersections

Intersections

  • If a number is in an intersection, it means that they do both options
  • In this case, 3 people do both A and B
Neither

Neither

  • If a number is outside of any of the Venn circles, it means that they are not involved with either option
  • In this case, 4 people do neither A or B
