Using Calendars

Maths: KS3, topic 3.1.4

Using Calendars

Reading a calendar

Reading a calendar

  • A calendar shows the dates in a month

  • The days of the week are shown across the top

  • Each box shows one date

  • Dates go from left to right

  • When a row is full, the dates continue on the next row

Example

Example

  • What day of the week is the 17th of June?

  • Look for the number 17 and see which column it is in

  • The 1717th of June is a Wednesday

Counting forwards and backwards

Counting forwards and backwards

  • Do not count the starting date as the first day

  • From the 1010th to the 1515th is 55 days

  • So 55 days after the 1010th is the 1515th
