Reciprocals

To find the reciprocal of a non-zero number xx, calculate 1x\dfrac{1}{x}

Example 1

  • Find the reciprocal of 2
  • Use the fact that the reciprocal is 1x\dfrac{1}{x} and substitute x=2x = 2

  • Use the fact that the reciprocal is 1x\dfrac{1}{x} and substitute x=14x = \dfrac{1}{4}
