- Despite Hitler’s defeat, it is important to remember that support for the right did not completely vanish.
- Fascism, once large, moved to the margins of politics. However, there was a residual affection for it.
- In 1981, a study in West Germany revealed that 13% of their survey group had right wing sympathies.

- The main far-right group was the Socialist Reich Party.
- In 1964, neo-Nazi groups joined to become the National Democratic Party (NDP).

Electoral success
- The NDP never gained 5% of the vote, which was the minimum requirement to enter the Bundestag.
- The NDP came closest to entering the Bundestag in the 1969 election, where it gained 4.3%.
- The party did have success in regional elections.
