Singular Adjectives

Adjectives are describing words. In French, adjectives agree with the gender and number of the noun.

Masculine singular nouns

Masculine singular nouns

  • When describing a masculine singular noun, you use the basic spelling of the adjective:
    • bleu - blue
    • vert - green
    • noir - black
Feminine singular nouns

Feminine singular nouns

  • To create the feminine form, most adjectives add '-e' to the masculine form.
  • bleu - blue
    • un ballon bleu - a blue ball
    • une voiture bleue - a blue car
