Adjectives after the noun

Adjectives are normally placed after the noun and have to agree with the thing they are describing.
Los gatos negros son muy cariñosos.
- The black cats are very friendly.
La Casablanca está en Washington.
- The White House is in Washington.

Adjectives after the noun (cont.)

La niña lleva un vestido rojo y unos zapatos negros.
- The girl is wearing a red dress and black shoes.
Los hombres enfadados.
- The angry men.

Exception to the rule

However, there are exceptions on the use of adjectives.
Here are some examples:
El nuevo coche.
- The new car (in the sense that it is new to you but isn’t brand new).
El coche nuevo.
- The brand new car.

El gran almacén.
- The great warehouse/store.
El almacén grande.
- The large warehouse.
Un buen amigo.
- A friend who is good to me.
Un amigo bueno.
- A good person that is a friend of mine.
