Star Topology

In the star topology, all the devices are connected to a central server or switch. These networks are very common in local area networks.

In the mesh topology, each computer is connected to every other computer on the network.

  • In the mesh topology, there is no central server.
  • There is no single point at which the network can fail.
High cost

High cost

  • A wired mesh is very expensive to construct.
    • For example, even a mesh with 10 computers will need at least 45 cables.
  • Using wireless technology helps to lessen this cost.
