Marxist Views on Divorce
Marxists argue that society’s drive is a conflict between groups to have power and resources.

Marxist views
- According to Marxists, divorce is the result of a competition for power and resources between the spouses.
- Unequal access to resources might lead to frustration and frustration can lead to people not being able to maintain their marriage.
- This mainly takes place in working-class families.

Capitalist society
- According to Marxists, we live in a capitalist society and society's goal is to maximise profit and build a stronger economy.
- This has resulted in women suffering from the ‘dual burden’ (having a paid job and doing the housework).
- ‘Dual burden’ has led to women being more financially independent whilst also being dissatisfied, which lays the foundations for eventually filing for a divorce.
