Summaries

  • We write a summary in our own words, outlining the main idea, without all the details.
  • A summary will be much shorter than the text it describes.
    • Think of a summary as a subtitle for the bit of text it is summarising.

  • A panda is a type of bear that lives in bamboo forests in the mountains of China. They very occasionally eat other animals, but their diet mainly consists of bamboo. They need to eat a lot of it, and it is not unusual for them to spend 12 hours a day eating. Pandas grow to around 1.5 metres tall, but when they are born they could fit in your hand.
