Learn how to check whether a number is divisible by 2, 3, 5 or 10.

Divisible by 2

Divisible by 2

  • A number is divisible by 2 if its last digit is even

    • It must end in 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8
  • For example, 246 is divisible by 2

Divisible by 3

Divisible by 3

  • Add the digits

    • If the digit sum is divisible by 3, the number is divisible by 3
  • For example, 234 is divisible by 3 because 2 + 3 + 4 = 9

Divisible by 5

Divisible by 5

  • A number is divisible by 5 if its last digit is 0 or 5

  • For example, 135 is divisible by 5

Divisible by 10

Divisible by 10

  • A number is divisible by 10 if its last digit is 0

  • For example, 120 is divisible by 10
