The exam

  • You will be given some data and asked to evaluate a viewpoint on a child’s linguistic development.
  • You are assessed on AO1 (terminology and coherency) and AO2 (theories and concepts) for 15 marks each.
  • You will be expected to pick out features from the data and comment on these in relation to the question and theory you have studied.

  • In the exam, 15 marks are awarded for your knowledge of key theories and concepts.
  • Within the study of child language, there are a number of ‘schools of thought’ which view a child’s acquisition of language in different ways.
