Sustaining a Behaviour Policy

CPD: Behaviour (by Sam Strickland), topic 1.1.4

Final Thoughts

As this course comes to a close here are some key thoughts to ponder on:

  • Poor behaviour is Kryptonite to a school’s culture, to teaching and to learning. Ultimately you permit what you promote and you promote what you permit.
  • You must clearly define the culture you want.
  • You should be explicit with your expectations and model them.
  • Behaviour must be taught and treated as a subject and be treated as part of the overall curriculum.
  • You should carefully consider how many chances a pupil will receive before a school’s behaviour system inadvertently undermines the teachers.

Well done!

Thank you for completing our CPD course. We hope you've enjoyed it and that it has given you some ideas for your own classroom.
