Common Misconceptions
There are five common misconceptions teachers may have when evaluating the reasons behind student behaviour:

Misconception 1
- Routines, order, and structure inhibit teacher autonomy and creativity.

Misconception 2
- Good lesson planning will automatically result in positive behaviour.

Misconception 3
- 'They behave for me' is somehow a helpful phrase to hear from a colleague.

Misconception 4
- Behaviour is solely the teacher’s responsibility and SLT have no role to play.

Misconception 5
- The teacher needs to earn respect.
