How to do Hands-on Activities when Teaching Online?

1

1

  • Identify the key concept from the weekly module.
2

2

  • Use curricula or a reliable outside resource to find a hands-on demonstration of the key concept, or design your own.
3

3

  • Ensure that the demonstration uses only inexpensive everyday household items, ask students to obtain the needed items, or provide the items to students.
4

4

  • Perform the demonstration to make sure it works; record a short (six to ten minute) video of the demonstration for students who are unable to complete it independently.
5

5

  • Write directions and guided notes for the students.
  • This means that a student is supposed to be able to read and follow the directions without help.
6

6

  • Assess through the weekly quiz or other regular evaluation.
