Department for Education, UK
In October 2023, the DfE released a policy paper highlighting the use of generative AI in schools.

Advantages
- According to the policy, genAI can be used to:
- "Reduce workload across the education sector"
- "Free up teachers' time, allowing them to focus on delivering excellent teaching"

Disadvantages
- According to the policy, the content created by gen AI may be:
- Inappropriate, unreliable, inaccurate or biased.

Good use
- They recommend that teachers should learn how to write good prompts used on genAI and to sense-check the results.
- Although AI can write texts, it still cannot understand and judge the subjects to the same level as a human teacher.
- Schools should ensure students "acquire knowledge, expertise and intellectual capability."

Skills for the future
- Schools need to prepare students
- for changing workplaces
- to use new technologies appropriately and safely
