Alphabet Codes - Letters Moving Left & Right

Alphabet codes show you an example and ask you to work out the pattern used in an example. Look at this example: (HC is to LS) as (TO is to __).

H → L

H → L

  • The first letter, H, moves to L, which is 4 letters right.
C → S

C → S

  • The second letter, C, moves to S, which is 10 letters left.
    • This is because when you move left from A, the alphabet cycle starts again from the end. So A moves left to Z.
T moves 4 letters right

T moves 4 letters right

  • Move the first letter, T, 4 letters to the right. This is the letter X.
O moves 10 letters left

O moves 10 letters left

  • Move the second letter, O, 10 letters to the left. This is the letter E.
