English: Year 3 & 4 National Curriculum, topic 2.1.3
Drafting your Writing
The second stage of creating effective writing is drafting. Drafting means making a rough copy that you plan to make changes to. Let's look at some things you should do when drafting your writing...

Rehearse (or read) sentences aloud

Organise paragraphs around a theme
- For example:
- In paragraph 1, you introduce the setting.
- In paragraph 2, you introduce the main character.

Use the correct layout
- If you are writing a non-narrative piece (not telling a story), make sure you have used the correct layout for the style of writing.
- There are some examples of different layouts on the next slides....

Newspaper
- If you are writing a newspaper report, should use columns and a heading.

Formal letter
- If you are writing a formal letter, you should need your address, the address of the person you are writing to, and the date at the top.
