English Lit: AQA GCSE Much Ado About Nothing, topic 3.2.1
Act 1, Scene 2
Antonio, Leonato’s brother, mistakenly believes that Don Pedro intends to woo Hero for himself.

Misunderstanding
- This is the first of many misunderstandings in the play that are typical of a Shakespearean comedy.
- Leonato is unsure whether the information is reliable, telling Antonio “We will hold it as a dream till it appear itself”.

“dream”
- However, the use of “dream” could also imply that this potential marriage could be of significant benefit to Leonato.
- He decides to inform Hero of this news, just in case.
