1.1.4
Sustaining a Behaviour Policy
Final Thoughts
Final Thoughts
As this course comes to a close here are some key thoughts to ponder on:
- Poor behaviour is Kryptonite to a school’s culture, to teaching and to learning. Ultimately you permit what you promote and you promote what you permit.
- You must clearly define the culture you want.
- You should be explicit with your expectations and model them.
- Behaviour must be taught and treated as a subject and be treated as part of the overall curriculum.
- You should carefully consider how many chances a pupil will receive before a school’s behaviour system inadvertently undermines the teachers.
