The American educator Robert Marzano argued that in a classroom setting there should be no more than four key rules.
- The class should be quiet when the teacher is talking.
- Directions (instructions) should be followed straight away.
- Pupils should allow one another to get on with their work.
- There should be mutual respect for one another.
