In reflection questions, you may be asked to follow a pattern. This will require you to think about where the reflection line is as this will NOT be drawn for you.
Question
- Does image A, B, C or D complete the grid?
Start with the first sequence
- The pattern in the first sequence is the same as the pattern used to complete the grid.
Look for patterns in arrows ✅
- The pattern in this sequence is a horizontal reflection of the image.
Confirm the pattern for third sequence
- We need to confirm that the pattern in the third sequence is the same as the pattern in the first sequence.

Confirm the pattern ✅
- We see that the third sequence follows the same pattern as the first sequence.
Consider the second sequence
- Now we use the pattern of reflection to work out what would complete the grid.
Reflect the central image
- Reflecting the central image horizontally will allow us to work backwards to get the initial image in the sequence.
Compare with answers
- Shape B is the correct answer as it is a horizontal reflection of the central image.
