Poetry
A poem is usually a short literature text on a particular topic and theme. Poems can be based on a story, event, or different thoughts and feelings.

Autobiographical & persona poems
- Poems can be autobiographical or based on a fictional persona.
- Autobiographical poems are based on the poet’s own experiences and emotions.
- Persona poems are about a fictional person and their experiences and emotions.

Stanzas
- Poems can be separated into different stanzas (sections) similar to paragraphs.
- There is no single way to structure a poem - sometimes poets may choose to have lots of stanzas or none.

Calligrams
- Some poems have a shape that reflects the topic of the poem, called ‘calligrams’.
- For example, a poem about the beauty of a rainbow could be in the shape of a rainbow.
