Capital Letters
Capital letters are used for four reasons:

To begin a sentence
- Capital letters are used at the beginning of every sentence.

For proper nouns
- Proper nouns are the names of people, places, cities or organisations.
- 'London' is a proper noun and should always start with a capital letter.
- The word 'river' is NOT a proper noun so should start with a lower case letter.
- The name 'River Thames' should start with capital letters because it is the name of a river.

To write the pronoun ‘I’
- Whenever we write the pronoun ‘I’ it must be a capital letter.
- There are no exceptions to this.
- For example:
- ‘It is a shame that i can’t swim.’ ❌
- ‘It is a shame that I can’t swim.’ ✅

In titles
- The following words should start with a capital letter in a title"
- The first word in the title.
- The last word in the title.
- All the important words in a title (e.g. NOT 'a', 'an', 'the', 'and', 'with', etc.)
