Key Quotations from Scene Six
It is late. Blanche and Mitch have been on a night out together.

"Streetcar named Desire"
- Blanche asks Mitch if the "streetcar named Desire" is still operating at this hour? This seems a playful metaphor. However, Mitch has been respectful all night.

"Bohemian" nightcap
- Mitch asks to kiss Blanche but she suggests a night-cap with a "Bohemian" feel – again acting out one of her fantasies.

"Old-fashioned ideals"
- Blanche ironically tells Mitch she has "old-fashioned ideals".
- The audience already knows that she does not.

"Gesture of revulsion"
- They talk about Stanley. Blanche imitates how Stanley feels about her with a "gesture of revulsion".
