Irregular RE Verbs in the Imperfect Tense
Verbs like 'prendre'
- Prendre → nous prenons → pren
- Because verbs like 'prendre' are irregular in the 'nous' form of the present tense, they have an irregular imperfect stem.
- You just add the imperfect endings.
- Je prenais
No pattern
- A lot of the no pattern irregular verbs in the present tense have irregular 'nous' forms.
- This means they have irregular imperfect stems.
- You just add the imperfect endings to these irregular stems.
- Faire → nous faisons → fais
- Je faisais.
- Boire → nous buvons → buv
- Je buvais.
