The slides below highlight a series of questions that could be used to guide a conversation about the ideas included in MARGE.

- Grasp the narrative of repeating themes within a subject?
- Understand why they are being taught what they are being taught, and how it links to the world around them?
- Show curiosity in what is being taught?
- Have opportunities to share their thoughts on what they are learning?


Attend

- Are students aware of:
- What they need to focus their attention on in each lesson?
- How what they are learning links to what they already know?
- How what they are learning forms part of a bigger process of what they are learning within the subject?


Relate

- Are students guided to:
- Use a variety of strategies to relate what they are being taught to what they already know?
- Learn using a variety of sources including visual imagery and schematic representations?
- Compare, contrast and categorise what they know with what they are being taught?


Generate

- Do students have opportunities to:
- Share what they have learned with their peers and at home?
- Use what they already know to form new ideas?
- Apply what they have just learned in a different context?
- Link knowledge through self-testing using the three Cs?
- Revisit learning after a period of time to check they have remembered it?

- Are students aware of how to:
- Interleave topics and use spaced practice to evaluate the strength of concepts in their long-term memory?
- Avoid potential pitfalls, such as the illusion of knowing?
- Construct flashcards and other tools to effectively test the strength of learning?
