Feminine Exceptions

There are some nouns that are exceptions to the rule that feminine nouns end in 'a'. The following nouns are feminine but end in 'o':

Agua - water

Agua - water

  • 'Agua' is a feminine noun, but when it is used as a singular noun it uses 'el'. This only happens with the definite article.
    • 'El agua'.
  • In the plural it uses the normal feminine form.
    • 'Las aguas'.
