English Lit: AQA GCSE Lord of the Flies, topic 6.2.1

## Quotations from Chapter 1

Here are a few key quotations from Chapter 1:

### Quotations about Ralph

- __“The boy with fair hair”.__
 - The adjective __“fair”__ may have an alternative meaning here. Ralph is identified as the boy who will try to be fair and treat everyone equally.
- __“We ought to have a chief to decide things”.__
 - Introduces the idea of leadership on the island.
- __“Every hand outside the choir except Piggy’s was raised immediately”.__
 - Almost unanimously voted for.
- __“The choir belongs to you, of course”__
 - Fairly gives Jack some dominion.

### Quotations about Piggy
